reh·cord is made by one person, named in the Impressum. The app collects no data and sends nothing to its maker: there is no account, no analytics, no third-party SDK and no server.

Your recordings

reh·cord asks for the microphone so that it can record. Your recordings stay on your device. Their transcripts, and the summaries Apple Intelligence writes, are made on the device too. reh·cord sends none of it anywhere, except to your own iCloud if you turn sync on.

Your iCloud

Sync is optional. When it is on, reh·cord uses your own iCloud account, and Apple handles what is kept there under its own terms. Audio is uploaded when you ask, or automatically if you choose that. Offloading takes a recording’s audio off the device only once reh·cord has confirmed that iCloud holds a copy, and you can download it again.

Where you rehearsed

If you let reh·cord remember where you rehearsed, and allow it your location, the precise location is sent to Apple’s geocoding service so that the place can be named. The request carries the location and nothing else, it happens only while the feature is on, and your location never reaches reh·cord’s maker. Say no, and places are never mentioned.

The model

The models that transcribe and summarise live on the device. If a transcription model ever has to be fetched — a variant the app did not ship with — it is downloaded from a public model repository. That request carries nothing of yours: no audio, no text, no identity.

Notebook covers

A notebook’s cover can be a photograph. reh·cord uses Apple’s photo picker, which hands it only the picture you chose — the app never sees the rest of your library, and never asks to.

What you share

When you export or share a recording, a transcript or a notebook, it goes only where you send it — AirDrop, Messages, Files, whatever you pick. From there it belongs to the person you gave it to. reh·cord keeps no copy of the fact that you shared it.

Diagnostics

The app keeps a technical log of its own workings on the device, so that problems can be understood. You can read it yourself in the Files app. It is never transmitted; if you want reh·cord’s maker to see it, you would have to send it yourself.

This website

This site is served from a machine rented from Hetzner (Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany). Like almost every web server, it keeps technical logs for a short time — the visiting address, what was asked for, and when — to keep the site running and secure. The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from anywhere else.

Deleting

You can delete any recording in the app, and its transcript, summaries and markers go with it. With sync on, the deletion reaches your iCloud too. Offloading is different: it takes the audio off the device and keeps the copy in iCloud. Deleting the app removes everything it kept on the device; anything in your iCloud stays yours, in your iCloud, until you delete it there.

If this ever changes

If a future version of reh·cord ever offers a feature that would put your data anywhere beyond your own devices and your own iCloud, this page will say so before the feature exists, and the feature will be off until you turn it on.

For anything about privacy, email info@rehcord.app. An email shares your address and whatever you write in it; they are used only to answer you. You can also complain to a data protection authority: the one for your own country, or Germany’s, where reh·cord is made.
